Description

This silent film shows Dr. Lawrence Schonberger on rounds in the Port of Spain General hospital in Trinidad. During which he examines five of the 205 poliomyelitis patients in the Trinidad epidemic of 1971-72. These patients included two 3 year old boys who were sharing a hospital bed (crowding due to the epidemic), a 2 year 5 month old girl in a tank respirator, a six year old blind boy who showed the classic tripod positioning and head lag of poliomyelitis, and a 3.5 year old girl.
