Description

A powered air-purifying respirator (PAPR) is a type of personal protective equipment (PPE) used to safeguard workers against contaminated air. Whirlpool Corporation produced these PAPR filters under the Defense Production Act during the COVID-19 pandemic response. The National Institute for Occupational Safety & Health (NIOSH) and the National Personal Protective Technology Laboratory (NPPTL) then reviewed and tested the product before these PAPR filters were manufactured and distributed to healthcare workers in the US.
