Description

A powered air-purifying respirator (PAPR) is a type of personal protective equipment (PPE) used to safeguard workers against contaminated air. The Ford Motor Company and 3M collaborated to produce this PAPR hood under the Defense Production Act during the COVID-19 pandemic response. The National Institute for Occupational Safety & Health (NIOSH) and the National Personal Protective Technology Laboratory (NPPTL) then reviewed and tested the product before these PAPRs were manufactured and distributed to healthcare workers in the US.
