Description

A MagMax Express Magnetic Particle Processor that was used to perform the different steps of nucleic acid isolation required to complete assay tests, including the tests for Ebola and Malaria, in the Hot Lab located within the Médecins Sans Frontières / Doctors Without Borders [MSF] Case Management Center in the Bo District, Sierra Leone.
A hot lab is a facility that performs diagnostic tests and/or research on Hazard Group 3 and Hazard Group 4 pathogens [the Ebola virus is considered a Hazard Group 4 pathogen].
