Description

This highly magnified micrograph depicts the usual histopathologic changes found in a Kaposi's sarcoma lesion. This skin biopsy of a Kaposi's sarcoma lesion reveals the usual dermal infiltrate of spindle-shaped cells that represents young fibroblasts. In more recent years, the vast majority of cases of Kaposi's sarcoma are found in patients with AIDS (acquired immunodeficiency syndrome).
